Broken spirit

Just read great article, emailed by Ruth.

Rehabbing a mill dog  by Michelle and Kim, who  run A New Start On Life in Michigan. This line really hit home for me:

“Most of the dogs we encounter have had their spirit broken many years before”

That could explain the lethargy I see in Crystal. Except for a brief 10 or 15 minutes to eat, she hops back up to her sofa nest, and dozes off.

But if she has been in a cage every day for 6 years, she’s probably gotten very good at sleeping, and shutting out the world.
